LOCAL: Free School Supplies at the Mall?

by April on August 11, 2011

One of my readers, Ashley, shared this deal about the Nittany Mall in State College with us on our Facebook page and I thought I’d see if anyone has tried it yet?

I don’t personally need to buy back to school supplies for my kids yet but I heard on the radio that if you spend $75 at the mall and bring your receipts to the mall office, they will give you free school supplies. Not sure what that means but if you were planning on purchasing anything at the mall, you can’t beat FREE”

Thanks, Ashley!

If you love baseball, but don’t want to splurge and spend the money to drive to Philly, or Pittsburgh, or even New York to go to a game, why not go to one right here in Central PA!

Not only does going to a State College Spikes game give you all the entertainment and family fun atmosphere that a major league game would, but it will cost you probably less than half the cost! Concessions, souvenirs, tickets, parking…it’s all cheaper at a Spikes game, not to mention the gas money and time you will save.

We LOVE taking Trey to Spikes games! And if you have little ones to, you might want to check out their Kids Club for kids 12 and under. The Kids Club has a new low price of just $10 and includes:

  • FREE tickets to nine (9) select home games (6/30, 7/3, 7/17, 7/24, 8/1, 8/11, 8/14, 8/28 and 9/1)
  • Official Spikes Kids Club membership card
  • 10% discount at “Off the Rack Outfitters” with membership card
  • Exclusive Kids Club-only member events, including Kids Club Kickoff Event (Sunday, July 3) and Exclusive Meet & Greet with Spikes players (Sunday, August 28)
  • Watch Fireworks from the field on Sunday, July 3
  • One (1) free all-you-can-ride pass to Ike’s Kids Zone

    Now, on to the giveaway…

The State College Spikes are giving two lucky Save It Somewhere readers 2 FREE Ticket Vouchers good for the Bullpen Box for any remaining game of the 2011 season!

    Here’s how you can enter:

    Wal-Mart Winter Clearance

by April on May 3, 2011

My mom just called to tell me that out at the Wal-Mart on Atherton Street they have winter items (gloves, hats, scarfs, etc.) marked down to $0.20! If you need spares or new ones for this winter, now’s the time to stock up! Not sure about other Wal-Marts, but I do know that a few weeks ago they were down to $0.50 at the Benner Pike Wal-Mart, so they may be down even more now. If anyone knows, leave it in the comments for us!

    Thanks, Mom!

    CEA of State College

by April on March 3, 2011

The Childbirth Education Association (CEA) is a non-profit, volunteer organization founded to make pregnancy, birth, delivery, and parenthood a more informed and satisfying experience, and is dedicated to promoting the concepts of Family-Centered Maternity Care. CEA has been serving the Centre Region for over 40 years. The people responsible are largely volunteers.

We offer a variety of classes to make pregnancy, birth, delivery, and parenthood a more informed and satisfying experience. Our classes are taught by certified instructors, and we keep class sizes small to ensure that each participant receives the attention they need. Most of our classes are held at the State College Friends School. (Sibling Preparation is held at Mount Nittany Medical Center.)

The following classes are offered by CEA:

Check with your insurance carrier. Many health plans pay all or partial fees for Early, Prepared, and/or Refresher Childbirth Classes.

For more info, check out their website here.

    PA’s WIC Program

by April on March 1, 2011

    What is WIC?

WIC is a federally funded program that provides healthy supplemental foods and nutrition services for pregnant women, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants and children under age five in a supportive environment.

The goal of the WIC Program is to decrease the risk of poor birth outcomes and to improve the health of the participants during critical stages of growth and development.

WIC will help participants find the answers to these questions and many other nutrition related concerns:

    • When can I start feeding my baby cereal and juice?
    • How much weight should I gain during pregnancy?
    • Will alcohol or smoking hurt my unborn baby?

Here are the current income guidelines:

If you or someone you know think they may qualify, click here for more info. WIC is an awesome program that gives families that little extra for the items that babies, kids, and pregnant women need.
